A bit more about me.
My work explores the principles of health, wellbeing, and mastery that transcend capabilities and domains. I've learned that whether someone is trying to qualify for the Olympics, break ground in mathematical theory, launch a business, craft a creative masterpiece, or simply raise a family, many of the practices underlying sustainable success and wellbeing are the same; supported by scientific evidence; and available to everyone.
I regularly write about the above in "Do It Better," my popular column with Outside Magazine. I am also author of the books, The Passion Paradox: A Guide to Going All In, Finding Success, and Discovering the Benefits of an Unbalanced Life, and Peak Performance: Elevate Your Game, Avoid Burnout, And Thrive with the New Science of Success. These books explore the art, science, and practice of sustainable motivation, drive, and peak performance.
In my coaching practice, I intimately partner with clients to apply the principles about which I write. My coaching informs my writing and my writing informs my coaching.
I live in Oakland, California with my wife and son. I'm an avid exerciser and outdoor enthusiast. I do almost all of my best thinking in the gym or on the trail
